Meet the Producers | Banditti Club | 2024

The home of Banditti Club, The Glasgow Distillery, is a renowned distillery that has gained international praise for its exceptional craftsmanship in producing premium spirits across various categories, including single malt Scotch whisky, blended malt whisky, rum, vodka and gin.

Situated in an industrial area on the city’s outskirts, the distillery is deeply rooted in Glasgow’s rich history and tradition of whisky-making, while also embracing innovation and a forward-thinking approach.

The Glasgow Distillery uses a combination of traditional and modern techniques to produce an outstanding range of spirits that honour both the past and present. While whisky is at the core of their production, their wide-ranging portfolio assists in showcasing their versatility and commitment to crafting high-quality spirits across different categories.

Channeling into the rich history of Glasgow, Banditti Club Rum is named after a band of ardent spirits who would gather in Glasgow’s local pubs in the late 18th and 19th century, singing, eating, and playing music late into the night.

Matured and spiced in Glasgow, Banditti Club Spiced Rum is made using rum distilled from freshly pressed sugar cane juice on the island of Madeira.

Whilst Banditti Club Glasgow Spiced Rum is their core expression, it is supplemented with limited edition releases as the distillery experiments throughout the year. Limited editions so far include a non-spiced tawny Port cask finish and spiced peated whisky, utilising their own Glasgow 1770 Single Malt Peated casks. Extending on this experimentation, this year they are releasing three exciting new limited rums to their portfolio -watch this space!

Aged for 12 months in oak casks, Banditti Club Glasgow Spiced Rum is spiced with a selection of fresh tropical fruit and exotic spices, including pineapple, orange, cacao and allspice.

With natural sweetness and warm spice on the nose, Banditti Club opens up to toasted pineapple and orange on the palate, accompanied by notes of clove and anise that lead to a long, spicy finish.

Banditti Club Port Cask Finish is naturally fermented and distilled from fresh sugarcane juice on the island of Madeira before being aged in Glasgow, first in new heavily charred virgin oak barrels and then for a finishing period in exceptional first-fill tawny port casks. Natural fermentation offers a wonderful grassy and fruity flavour profile. The long and slow maturation in virgin oak imparts notes of vanilla and woody spice. The finishing period in tawny port takes this spirit to another level, adding rich fruity layers of strawberries, blackberries and dark chocolate.

Finally, their Banditti Club Smoky Rogues Rum is naturally aged in oak casks and spiced with a selection of fresh fruit and exotic spices. Smoky Rogues is then finished in casks that previously held Glasgow 1770 Peated Single Malt Scotch Whisky to add a deep and complex layer of smoky richness. Experience notes of spiced orange, dark chocolate and smoky tobacco, mulled spices and zesty marmalade combine before a long smoky finish.

All three rums will be making their way to the Scottish Rum Festival, so get ready to experience what The Glasgow Distillery Company has to offer!
