Meet the Producer: Ron Cabezon | 2021

Cabezon Beverage was born in the same way a lot of great ideas are: drinking rum in the sun.

Founder David Smith started Cabezon Beverage in July 2020 after living in Barcelona. Cabezon is Spanish for pig-headed and was a name that David picked up due to his unrelenting fixation of doing things in a wilfully uncompromising way.

David was joined in 2021 by Fraser Graham, who’s background in business development and marketing has allowed Cabezon Beverage to reach new markets and continue its growth journey.

Cabezon Beverage wanted to take a leap into the unknown by creating a rum that stayed true to its Caribbean roots but also paid homage to Scotland and its inimitable knowledge for distilling and creating drinks enjoyed the world over. 

The journey for Cabezon Beverages flagship product, Ron Cabezon was months of testing and tasting with one vision in mind. To produce a drink that stayed true to its heritage whilst opening the door for an uncompromising quest for depth.

Ron Cabezon is made from the finest Caribbean rum and complemented with botanicals from Europe, Africa and Asia. This blend of rum and botanicals is then finished in Scotland, taking advantage of centuries of distilling knowledge to produce a flavour that is both unique and familiar.

Ron Cabezon is a smooth Caribbean, golden rum, complemented with smoky cubeb, Madagascan vanilla, earthy kola nut and honey from a farm just over the road from the distillery in Royal Deeside and was recently awarded with a silver medal at the London Spirits Competition 2021.

Cabezon Beverage are already engaged in further product development and are looking to introduce 2 new products to the portfolio by the end of the 2021, so keep an eye on our socials and follow the journey.
